My Little Ray of Sunshine

Lane enjoyed her first kiddie pool experience this past weekend. She loves the water and didn't even mind that it was a bit chilly. Her Auntie Karissa came over to play and Laney loved showing off her swimming skills for her. I believe you may find Lane and I in this thing a lot over the summer...yes, I will make myself fit in it! Would anyone like to join us?

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to an amazing Dad. Chris is a very hands-on, playful, and loving Dad and Laney completely adores him. Laney and I are truly blessed!

Lack of Sleep

I just need to vent today. Our family had another night of crappy sleep last night. Our dear, sweet, little angel has for some reason, forgotten how to sleep. For the past few months Lane has been sporadically waking 3-4 times a night. Last night she was up at 3am, 4am and 5am. Chris and I feel like we are back in the infant stage and are at our wits end. We are trying not create any bad habits so I am not too comfortable rocking her back to sleep, letting her sleep with us or giving her a bottle during these wee hours. Not to say I haven't tried these approaches separately, but to no avail. We have also tried the approach of letting her cry it out...but this doesn't seem to be working either. After my second cup of coffee today, I'm feeling better but would probably feel a whole lot better with a good nights sleep!

On Monday, June 16, I am having a PETUNIAS open house at my house from 6:00-8:00pm. PETUNIAS is run by my friend Kelly, who makes adorable gifts for moms and babies. Anyone is welcome, and you can come and go as you please with no pressure to buy. Feel free to check out some of her products at http://petuniasbykelly.blogspot.com or www.petunias.etsy.com

Hope to see you there... and feel free to bring a friend!

Thanks,

Weekend Fun

This past weekend Laney and I spent time with my parents at their cottage in Onekama. Chris stayed home to work on my Mother's Day present which was repainting our kitchen (something I have wanted to do since the day we moved in 3 1/2 years ago!) and working on all the odds and ends projects around our house that I have been gently reminding him need to get done for the past year :) Our good friend, Jeff, helped Chris with these projects and while they feverishly worked, I took it easy up North. I actually had time to read a full magazine, go for a run, and attend the local church with my Dad on Sunday morning.

Here are just a few pics of Lane (hanging out with my Mom and I) in a play-pen I played in as a little girl. Check out that pattern!

Pictures of the before and after of the kitchen will be coming soon!

PS. Thanks to all of you who gave advice about the car seat..it sounds like Britax may be the way to go.

Car seat Advice

I could use some advice from the other Moms out there. We are at the stage where we need a new car seat but Lane still needs to be rear facing because of her weight. Chris and I are having trouble deciding what features are important and what will be the best bang for our buck. I was wondering if I could get any advice from anyone that has a car seat they love or one to maybe stay away from. Any help on this topic would be appreciated!

Congratulations Maribeth!

This past weekend, Chris's sister, Maribeth, graduated from Calvin College. This meant a fun weekend spent with family. Grandpa and Grandma Borchert also made the trip from their farm in Freeport, Il (about 5 hours away). Laney loved having them here and hardly let her Great Grandma put her down. I can't believe Maribeth is already a college graduate as it literally seems like yesterday we were moving her in the dorms. I guess it's a reality check that time really does fly. Congratulations Maribeth, we are so proud of you!
