Chris's sister, Katie and her husband Justin welcomed their third child, baby Caleb, on April 29. Caleb joins big sister Addie (4) and big brother Colin (2) who are excited about the new addition to the family (for right now :) ). We are super happy for their family and love having a new nephew!!

St. Louis
My Mom, Lane and I spent last weekend in St. Louis visiting my sister, Karissa. She is near the end of her first year of teaching and although she loves her new home, we miss her dearly and just had to pay a visit. Lane did great on the 7 hour car ride there and back, and overall she was such a trooper. We had a wonderful time together touring Grant's Farm (Anheuser Busch) where we learned a little history, interacted with a ton of fun animals, including those famous clydesdales and of course taste tested the beer! Our weekend was packed full of eventful things and a lot of laughter but I think we had the most fun just all being together again.

Dad's Suitcase
I'm not sure if Laney is more excited that her Dad is finally home from one of his recent business trips or that he decided to unpack his suitcase in the middle of the living room floor. Exploring this new object kept her busy and very happy for quite some time. Ahh yes, the simple pleasures in life!

The Bathroom and the Stairs
Lane's newest obsession is the bathroom. I constantly find her in there now that she is moving about on her own. Her favorite past-times while there include; sitting on the scale (next to the toilet), looking longingly at the toiletpaper roll and wrestling with the bath mat.
This morning, she also completely surprised me and climbed our entire set of stairs!! (Don't worry Grandmas, I was right behind her the whole way :) ). I guess we should look into a baby gate for the bottom of the stairs now too. Yikes.

Easter
We attended my parent's church on Easter morning and then spent the day with my family at my parent's house. It was a nice, relaxing day and good to spend time with everyone (minus Karissa of course...we miss you!!!!). Lane only spit up on her Easter dress twice and it washed up nicely! She is definitely on the move now and into everything. Its a lot of fun to watch this new stage develop, but also a lot more work!
A Busy Weekend
We had a pretty busy weekend with visits from friends and family. My college roommates and I met for one of our fun get-togethers. Marie came into town from the Detroit area with her son Caleb, whom all of us were anxious to meet. Caleb was born 5 days after Laney so it was fun to have them get to interact as well. To put it mildly, Laney was a bit of the aggressor in the new relationship but time will tell with that one :). It was so nice to spend time with these ladies and although our lives have taken us in different directions its always nice to come back together and strengthen our friendship.
Chris's parents and grandparents were also in town to enjoy Easter with Katie and Justin and Maribeth and Ryan (we were at my parents for the day) and celebrate Addie's 4th birthday on Saturday. Mom and Dad Borchert's dog, Annie, also came for the visit. Annie is a big hit with Laney and although she looks as though she could eat her for lunch, they are fast friends.

10 Miles
Its official, I've signed up for the 25K Fifth Third River Bank Run. My running partner, Cricket, and I decided that when we made it to 10 miles in our training it meant we were serious about this and would sign up for the race. Well, on Friday we ran our 10 miles. It was so freezing cold and we were sick and tired of running in this Michigan weather that we decided to run it all on the treadmills. I am not sure if anyone else has done this but I will never be doing it again. Two hours of looking at the same wall and going nowhere is beyond monotonous. And I'm not sure if I have gone a bit crazy because I never thought I would pay money to run, but I did. So, the training continues and we are onto 11 miles for next week. Whoo hooo!!!
