The Kitchen

Here are before and after pictures of the kitchen that I promised. I much prefer the new chocolate brown color to the old, drab tan. We still need a few finishing touches like seat cushions, rugs, and curtains but you get the idea. We also have to get a new "O" on the HOME (because I messed it up upon application) and then add the white lettering underneath that says, "where your story begins."

Snack time with Dad.
Maribeth and Joel just relaxing.
Uncle Bill showing Lane his Harley. Maybe next
year she can go for a ride!

always wants to be held by her.

Addie, Ryan and Mom returning from a

leisurely ride through the woods on the Gator.

This past weekend we shared our time between Chris's parent's house and his Grandparent's farm in Il. We had such a nice weekend with perfect weather, great food and a ton of fun spending time with family. Lane experienced her first of many Gator and four-wheeler rides and had fun playing outdoors the whole time with her cousins. We packed in a lot of activities but also managed to relax...it was a perfect weekend!

I've BeenTagged!

So, I've been tagged on blogger by my friend Jessica. I'm supposed to share some little known facts or 'quirks' about me that not everyone may know. I kind of feel like I may have a quite a few but here are some that I will actually admit to :)

1. I love organization. If I was allowed to organize all day and had the time, I would. I love organizing my own things and other peoples as well....and I don't care what I am organizing as long as it can be sorted, folded, stacked, labeled and my favorite part, thrown away...I'm happy!

2. Wherever I travel, I always have to sleep on the side of the bed farthest from the door. I have no idea why this is but it is a must. Strangely enough, I sleep closest to the door in our bedroom at home.

3. I have a very large, and real fear of...squirrels. This fear started in college when for some reason the little varmints weren't afraid of humans and would practically eat out of your hands and sit on your lap on campus. I hate their beedie little eyes, their rat like bodies and those fluffy tails. I hate the way they dart about and eat things like acorns with those tiny little claws that could literally scratch your eyes out. And, did I mention they are rabid? If anyone needs more reasons why these animals are the worst..please feel free to contact me.

4. I love to drive fast. I guess I just like speed in general but driving has always been an issue for me. I was pulled over 5 times for speeding before I received my first ticket. I talked my way out of all of them except for one where I had a female officer who put it bluntly..(and I quote) "It's your lucky day Mam, I ran out of ticket stubs." A few more traffic concerns after that, as well as having Lane has slowed me down significantly. I'm now actually one of those slow drivers that makes everyone else nuts. :)

5. There are several words in the English language that literally make my skin crawl. You will never hear me utter these words but for this special occasion, I will tell a few of them. I expect that by admitting these words, whoever reads this will respect me enough to NEVER say them in my presence. They are: crevice, slacks, bureau, and the worst of all.....moist.

And now I Tag....

My Little Ray of Sunshine

Lane enjoyed her first kiddie pool experience this past weekend. She loves the water and didn't even mind that it was a bit chilly. Her Auntie Karissa came over to play and Laney loved showing off her swimming skills for her. I believe you may find Lane and I in this thing a lot over the summer...yes, I will make myself fit in it! Would anyone like to join us?

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to an amazing Dad. Chris is a very hands-on, playful, and loving Dad and Laney completely adores him. Laney and I are truly blessed!

Lack of Sleep

I just need to vent today. Our family had another night of crappy sleep last night. Our dear, sweet, little angel has for some reason, forgotten how to sleep. For the past few months Lane has been sporadically waking 3-4 times a night. Last night she was up at 3am, 4am and 5am. Chris and I feel like we are back in the infant stage and are at our wits end. We are trying not create any bad habits so I am not too comfortable rocking her back to sleep, letting her sleep with us or giving her a bottle during these wee hours. Not to say I haven't tried these approaches separately, but to no avail. We have also tried the approach of letting her cry it out...but this doesn't seem to be working either. After my second cup of coffee today, I'm feeling better but would probably feel a whole lot better with a good nights sleep!
